Today I’m sharing some of the things I love about our new rooms. Instead of getting bogged down by what I’ve got to do, I am going to enjoy what has been done and what we have gained. The chaos downstairs will get sorted slowly but surely over the next wee while. These things take time (good line for a song).
Instagram is something I’ve been aware of for some time but have never really got into, I’m wary of it I guess. This post from Tales from a Happy House Instagram has changed my mind, now I’m keen to get on and use it. My goal is a photo a day for the whole of the school holidays. I will let you know once I’ve got organised with a name and so on, technoteenboy will be on hand if I get stuck
Daisies cannot be beaten – look at these super hair accessories being modelled by the gorgeous H. Wish I’d got myself some now.
The Glasonbury father returned eventually last night. Tired, brown and happy that he was home after a super-long bus journey. The kids all have their very own Glasto t-shirts now, H and F have all the bands that played on their backs – one is not that great for a 5 year old to notice. Never mind. L has a Rolling Stones one which he absolutely loves. It’s good to have C back xx
We were asked to give you our favourite plant. The colour and textures of Peony Roses, as I know them, are amazingly beautiful from that tight little ball when they are first noticeable on the plant until they puff and finally dissolve. This one is from the garden just now and is really on its way out. This is my favourite flower from the garden at the moment, there are others up there on my list at different times of the year.
The works – remember them? Well, the bedroom carpets are due tomorrow and the painter is lined up to do the last few bits soon. I may even have some properly habitable rooms very soon. Then comes putting the place back together. as my Mum used to say, ‘There’s always something.’
The regeneration had a busy weekend so I’m doing the two days in one post. It should really be 3, but who’s counting? The upstairs radiators and shower screen went in along with some more painting and work on the bannister/hand rail. The carpet has been ordered, at last, it is on the neutral theme after all, there’ll be a strict shoes off upstairs rule coming in I’m sure (we’ll all forget after a couple of weeks, knowing us). The shower screen has been decided on, I think, just a case of finding the best price we can for it now, needless to say it’s way more than we expected to pay but when you are fussy that’s what always happens.
Here’s a wee visual roundup of what’s going on here at the moment.
F has an enterprise task on at school at the moment and he is keen to make and sell tablet to make money. I looked out Mum’s recipe book and we made a batch.
I was so sure we would undercook it that it was a little overdone but my expert guest tester on Sunday said it was fine, she even gave F his first sale! My sister said, “yes, it looks just like Mum’s” followed by a funny look on her face. I guess that means Mum often overdid it too – she’s probably who instilled the thought in my head in the first place. Anyway, it tasted pretty good, it had the right grainy texture, it was just a bit too hard. F seemed pleased when he took a large lump of the seriously sugary stuff off to his business partner’s house yesterday. He’s off to P7 camp this week, it will be quiet here without him
His big brother has taken to watch the Simpsons in the little round and round chair. Have to say it doesn’t look that comfortable but he likes it.
