Day Thirty

We have a stair space, it appeared while I was at work. The ensuite as we knew it has gone too and the new one looks a great size and shape. I’m glad I missed the actual demolition of the wall and old entrance to the bathroom, bet it was pretty messy judging by the settling dust.  All the mess has gone but we all know that dust takes a while to settle, literally.

Other Stuff

Saturday was really wet in the morning.  It got better though and by mid afternoon we took the bold step of opening the garden room door which can only mean one thing… spring.  Check out those tulips for evidence of spring.

Unfortunately, in true Edinburgh fashion, spring did not last long. It snowed a bit yesterday and lots today so it’s back to this. The garden door is well and truly bolted again til the next sunny day.

Buddy, the P1A class teddy, had a good weekend, we didn’t match Tom Daley but he did go to the rugby.

The girls made use of the boardwalk in the hall too with an indoor hopscotch competition.

It’s due to be supercold overnight tonight, hot water bottles and beanies at the ready since we have two big holes in the front and back of the house.  Lucky we have lots of downies and blankets too, we’ll be fine.

Day Twenty-Nine

Friday again and loads more progress.

All of the old bedroom wallpaper has gone and we’re hoping work on the shower will start next week. The waste pipe is in place for upstairs now so the upstairs bathroom fittings will be the next big purchase.  The space for the stair is all ready apart from the wall that needs to come down.  The lights are the decision for upstairs this weekend.  Downlighters or pendants, that is the question….  or both?  Anyway I’m sure we’ll decide pretty quickly.

Other Stuff

H is so proud to have Buddy the class bear home for the weekend, he’ll be joining us wherever we go and we need to record what he’s been up to .  Great for a bit of competitive parenting.  One photo has the bear with Tom Daley.  How are we going to top that?

Have a good weekend one and all. X

Day Twenty-Seven

Back to normal service today, busy busy yesterday so no chat.  The scaffolding has gone at the back which is great. I was tempted to use it as a bonus washing line last week when it was so sunny.  The sun decided not to come out today, look how grey the sky is.

The space for the bed at the back is free of insulation now and we have measured it again.  Looks like it’s plenty  wide enough – hooray – panic over.  The hole you can see will be a bookshelf inset into the wall which will be handy and give that wee bit extra feeling of space next to the bed.   Nearly all the perimeter has been insulated now and the stairs should be here quite soon.  The windows are ordered and a wee bonus that I’ll show you another time.  The extra Velux is  here too and works on the new bathroom have resumed.  I love a bath but I am missing having a shower, especially on work days.  Tiles and flooring are being researched at the moment and I even glanced at wallpaper and paint the other day.

Other Stuff

I’ve been meaning to tell you about what I made of Friday for days now. Aubergine Parmigiana is one of those dishes that is so much more than the sum of its parts (or ingredients).  I used  Sarah’s recipe as a starting point,  http://www.viewfromthetable.co.uk/2012/07/pimp-that-veg.html . I used mozzarella as a layer and the parmesan type cheese on top.  Absolutely delicious. We had ours with crusty bread and green salad.

I notice the view from the table uses only a corner shot for the photo, very clever.  Don’t be put off by how it looks, make it, you’ll be glad you did. x

p.s. If you like woolly tights, Tesco has loads of colours and spotty ones half price at the moment.  Random, I know, apologies.
