Day Forty-Seven

The bungalow has been super busy again today, the plasterers have made it down the stairs and finished the ‘join’ to the hall really well and the bathroom has been skimmed too. The dormers have been undercoated outside and prepped inside. The frame is in for the ensuite door and there is a wall between the new ensuite and the bedroom cupboard. Electrical stuff has been going on too. That’s quite a lot if you ask me.

Other Stuff

The sun has been shining all afternoon and, though it is a bit chilly out of the rays, I have removed the guinea hutch from its winter home to allow the summer-house to be used again.  I emptied it, swept out all the hay and debris, put the furniture back in and within 5 minutes my boys and their pal had taken up residence.  Typical.  It was good to see them outside playing for hours on end I must admit, about time too.  This could be spring coming back to cheer us all up a bit.  The boys insisted on eating their tea in the summer-house, brilliant, you can tell they’re desperate for good weather too.

Day Forty-Two

Well, today has been one full of emotion.  I woke up to find the garden white and gorgeous.  My Mum always said that it snowed on the day she took me home in Glasgow, all those years ago, so it’s not the first time we’ve had snow when it’s meant to be springtime.

It has been a very sad day because I said goodbye to someone who has known me since that time and has been in my life ever since. His funeral was today and my love goes out to Sister Agnes and family.

When we got home from the Toon my lovely family cheered me up with a very funny cake.  Not our usual style but very well received.  Back to house news tomorrow.

Day Thirty-Nine

It’s the weekend and the start of the holidays for some of us.  Brilliant.  Shame about the chilly weather but we all know that we can’t have everything.

Upstairs is fully formed now with the final wall in place.  We had a last minute change of door position for the back bedroom and all the electrics and heating have been amended to accommodate the door’s new position.  We’ve also decided to change where to put storage.  We’re going to use the space to the right of the door for a built-in wardrobe, it was Gibby’s great idea, thanks Gibby.

All we need now are some windows and the plastering can start.  Nothing happening with bathrooms for the last couple of days, I’m looking forward to having a shower again.  Hope it won’t be too long now.

Other Stuff

Just thought that you might like to see the gorgeous ranunculus my sister just turned up with, they are my favourite, what a super surprise. I discovered them two years ago when I was planting lots of pots up for the garden ready for selling our house.  I’d never seen them before then, they are so pretty and full of petals I bought lots for the pots and the house sold very quickly. Not sure if there’s a connection, but I’ve loved them ever since.

I wonder how much snow we’ll have here in Edinburgh, we’ve missed most of it so far.  The forecast sounds like it could be quite serious.

Have a good weekend everyone, whatever the weather x

P.S. nearly forgot…I had beetroot on a pizza last night and it was amazingly tasty. Worth a try.
