Day Seventy-Three

Yesterday nothing happened works wise but we did move the big cupboards that have been taking up a huge amount of the hall.  The hall is now clear and tidyish – it feels massive – a bit like ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ by Julia Donaldson.  The old lady in the story fills her tiny house up with animals so that it’s seriously overcrowded, she’s guided by a wise old man.  When she gets rid of them all she feels like the house is much bigger and better than ever before.  Great message there.

We have the last shower and screen in place, it looks brilliant and huge – need to wait a bit to use it though.  The grout in the upstairs bathroom had a little issue which is now fixed thank goodness.  The front room is now useable, in a kind  of haphazard mismatched kindof way, L needs to study for some end of year exams so it’s only fair he has somewhere that does not look like an obsessive hoarder’s house.

Other Stuff

The guineas thought they had gone to heaven today when I put them in some long long grass in their run.  They had a good go at it – just as well since the lawn mower is at the mender’s (up a wee st in Edinburgh that looks like an old Wild West set – really).

Well,  it’s that time again, have a brilliant weekend, I am hoping lots of painting and sorting is going to make the place an oasis of calm by Monday. as if!  xx

p.s. Sorry HC, no flowers for you today, hope you’re not too upset. xx

Day Seventy-Two

Not a lot happening here on the regeneration today, the painter has done all he can before we move furniture upstairs – he’s doing the last coat once everything is up there, only problem is the back bedroom needs to finish being painted (by us).  I’ll be up there tomorrow trying hard to finish the walls.

Other Stuff

This splendid wall light was made by F today at school. I think it’s amazing, can you guess the theme, your clue is Glasgow.

Got these beauties today hoping that they might grow so late since spring is eluding us this year.  I have chosen where they are going, near the summer house, just need to put them in.

I’ll be sure to show you them when (if) they come through.  Rain is pelting down out there so no planting today.

Day Seventy-One

We had a last minute bit of work today, the tiler arrived about 4pm and  he finished off the upstairs bathroom tiles and finally got the last blue tile down in the downstairs bathroom.

The  children are getting used to their new rooms upstairs, it will be much better once the carpet is in.  The upstairs bathroom has been painted, after 8 tester pots, from dark intense blue to light grey, it is white!  F is not liking all the white, he said tonight that it looks like the bathroom is decomposing because it’s white and grey, not sure of his logic really.  We’ve agreed  to keep it white until we find the perfect colour, if it exists.  I love the white…

Other Random Stuff

Here are a couple of photos from the weekend, hope you like them, x

We really are getting closer now, there is just so much more stuff everywhere – maybe we should just chuck it all and start again.  As many of you know that would be impossible for me!
