This polystyrene head appeared one day at our house, it was meant for my niece’s A/S Art coursework but it ended up here by a mistake. It was meant to go in the bin but teenboy took a shine to it and he has had it in his room ever since, just waiting for a use. Today he got new x-box headphones ,they are brilliant, so he says. Anyway, the polystyrene head is now a headphone holder, I think they are a perfect match.
The regeneration has just about come to a grinding halt, the blog has been sorely neglected and I am on a mission to put that right. Tomorrow is painting day again, I must get the back bedroom finished. The carpets are still not here, not a good conversation point for me at the moment.
We had a brilliantly sunny and sociable weekend, long may the sun shine here. Here’s the dining table on Friday morning, this is where I sit when I write my blog most of the time. It is not usually so clear and tidy!
Another dining table, this time it’s the one outside that actually got used for tea last night, a very rare occurance here in Edinburgh. I love eating al fresco, it was fantastic last night apart from me bodging the mash by using the hand blender, I should know better, don’t ever make that mistake, it does something really weird to the starch in the potatoes. Yuck.
I’ve not managed nature in the home yet today, it will be coming your way soon x
The blog is back, we have had a very sickly household since last Monday, everyone apart from the hardy F has been bed bound for at least a day, if not two, with a really nasty bug. Horrible, I felt like my body was stuck to the bed on Saturday and I missed the best day of the year into the bargain. I am feeling loads better since about 10am this morning, in case you’re wondering. Even C was stuck to his bed on Thursday, that is most unusual.
Onwards now, the regeneration has really, really slowed down at the moment and it is becoming frustrating trying to get the last wee bits done. The carpets are not in yet – should be soon. I have finished painting the pegs for the upstairs bathroom and the velux blinds are here and keeping the bedrooms dark. It gets dark at about 10pm at the moment and gets light about 3am (noticed when I was up in the night on Friday night/sat morn, enough said). It is hard for the kids to get to sleep so the blackouts are brilliant. F has a red one but I got a bit carried away taking pics of the clouds so you cannot actually see the colour of the blind. H’s is the most sunny yellow, it’s very jolly.
That’s me checked back in, I missed my blogging. I’ll be back soon x
This blog is not as prolific as I’d like it to be, the works have nearly stopped but the regeneration certainly hasn’t, not by a long way.
We had some shelves and lots of bits and bobs done on Saturday. C and I both have our eye on these shelves in the spare room cupboard, there are 5 so we may have to do a deal. The ensuite shower went in on Friday, as you saw, it is brilliant, it was worth all the time it took to choose it. Now for the flooring….vinyl or Harvey Maria?
These hooks are for the upstairs bathroom. All they need is a lick of paint and we can put them up. That makes it sound so easy eh? I have sanded them so it shouldn’t take long once I actually get round to doing it. The back bedroom has had some more paint but it is going slowly for sure. The carpets should be in soon which will make such a difference to the children’s rooms upstairs. It is so warm up there it’s amazing, they’re pretty settled up there. Feels like forever until I’ll move up there to join them.
We had the electricians in today to install this magic mirror, the circle is the light, this is one of the few things we have seen on our travels that C really wanted – so here it is. The upstairs bathroom is finished now, needs a good clean! (apart from the pegs of course, always one more thing to do).
Here’s a random snack found today, I used to get them in Malaysia as a treat from the import supermarket TMC. This is the first time I’ve seen them here, not that I’ve ever actually looked for them. I’m guessing they hail from the USA. They’re lovely.
