Day Sixty-Two

You may be wondering why there was no post yesterday, well, nothing happened at all here works wise, so no post.

Mark has been here today doing more plumbing bits and bobs, the upstairs loo is back, the sink and shower are in up there too – all we need is a shower screen, some skirting and a door now.

The next thing to decide is colour, it’s between really bright blue, white or maybe pale grey.  Hmmm  I’ll make my decision soon and get painting…

 

I’m looking forward to seeing percussion demon F this evening in a school concert. He is not exactly enthusiastic about this performance – it will definitely not be boring with him on the cymbal!

There’s grey grout in those tiles upstairs now and the en-suite shower tray has been installed along with a rather handsome tap on the dinky sink.

Other Stuff

I’m feeling pretty austerity virtuous this tea time. I was going to ‘nip’ into the local massive supermarket on the way home but I decided to avoid it to save the inevitable £25 spend on things you did not know you needed.  Next stop the fridge and bread bin, I used up so many odd items for tea it was great – the children had vegetable soup and eggy bread (using the last of the Valvona and Crolla bread from the farmers’ market) followed by mini banana and white choc cakes made with 2 really really old black bananas I couldn’t quite throw away.  The flavour was amazing since they were so ripe. Yum.  What’s even better is that it’s not pay-day til Thursday so the last coppers will last a bit longer now.  Don’t think I could get another day out of what’s there but you never know…

Might have to have a look here to get inspired – love food hate waste.

The tiler has been and the upstairs bathroom floor now has orange tiles.  The grouting in the downstairs bathroom is finished – I think it looks  brilliant.  Nobody else was here today so I’m afraid there’s nothing else to report from the works.

Things are slowing down a bit and I feel the onus is one us to get busy now.  We had a look at carpets at the weekend and I must confess to feeling rather underwhelmed by the choice.  There are 100’s of colours if you fancy beige, fawn, biscuit or cream.  None of them are what we are looking for.  We did take a couple of samples but I’m not convinced by those either.  It’s going to be there for a really long time so it is crucial that we actually like the carpet we choose.

At last we are getting some flowers in the pots and some daffies in the garden.  The daisies are amazing, they have been there for ever and are the most cheery welcome to the house imaginable.  They are looking fabulous at the moment with loads of flowers and more to come.  Thought you’d like to see them too.
