Our Old House

As I might have mentioned, I’m on floors at the moment.  The old house had wooden floors, the colour was great and they stood up well to everything we threw at it, often literally with all three of the children being little there.  The whole ground floor was done at once as the last stage of the renovation, it finished the place off so well. The house had four rooms, a bathroom (in pink and black) and a kitchen when we moved in. We added two bedrooms and a shower room upstairs and bashed a few walls about downstairs to end up with a brilliant kitchen diner leading straight out to decking and a fab garden.  We probably would have put a room on the back had we stayed, we had good times there, the decision to move to the bungalow once Dad died was a tough one but we made the right choice, definitely.

At the weekend I was looking back through the images used for selling the house, to remind myself the look of the old floors.  I realised you may like to see them too, have a look. I do have to admit this was the day the house looked its best ever.

I love white houses, it just wouldn't work on the new place at all,

The Regeneration

The next stage here is well underway, we cleared the middle messy pit of a room and, since it’s now empty, the decision is whether to just go for it and redecorate it before the floors are done.  I’m for white in there, what a surprise, and C really fancies some wallpaper. Although I like a bit of white, I saw a great blue colour today that could work, the sample’s reserved to be picked up asap.  One thing that is for sure, we’ll get rid of the light fitting, photos to come of that soon.  This is the room that C has allocated as ‘his’ and he is thinking that a new Gibson ES-339 would be the perfect accessory for it.  There’s a lot of chatting to do I fear.  I’ll keep you posted.

Katy Perry

Hope you enjoyed that great video. After a big debate, H almost believes that the lyric is not, ‘Eye of the tyre’, don’t think she’ll ever be 100% convinced though.  She absolutely loves this song – it featured in the final of the CBBC show ‘Who Let The Dogs Out?’.  I think she fancies herself on it with one of the Westies, they are not so keen when she tries to get them to do the tricks.

If you’ve been wondering about how the flooring for the hall and the ‘middle’ aka dump room is coming on you can see for yourself, it’s still a work in progress.  No decision made yet.

Have a great weekend x

Day Seventy-Four

This blog is not as prolific as I’d like it to be, the works have nearly stopped but the regeneration certainly hasn’t, not by a long way.

lots of shelves for lots of 'stuff'
lots of shelves for lots of ‘stuff’

We had some shelves and lots of bits and bobs done on Saturday.  C and I both have our eye on these shelves in the spare room cupboard, there are 5 so we may have to do a deal.  The ensuite shower went in on Friday, as you saw, it is brilliant, it was worth all the time it took to choose it.  Now for the flooring….vinyl or Harvey Maria?

These hooks are for the upstairs bathroom. All they need is a lick of paint and we can put them up.  That makes it sound so easy eh?  I have sanded them so it shouldn’t take long once I actually get round to doing it.  The back bedroom has had some more paint but it is going slowly for sure.  The carpets should be in soon which  will make such a difference to the children’s rooms upstairs.  It is so warm up there it’s amazing, they’re pretty settled up there.  Feels like forever until I’ll move up there to join them.

We had the electricians in today to install this magic mirror, the circle is the light, this is one of the few things we have seen on our travels that C really wanted – so here it is.  The upstairs bathroom is finished now, needs a good clean! (apart from the pegs of course, always one more thing to do).

Other Stuff

Goldfish, yum, never seen these here before so I had to get them.

Here’s a random snack found today, I used to get them in Malaysia as a treat from the import supermarket TMC.  This is the first time I’ve seen them here, not that I’ve ever actually looked for them.  I’m guessing they hail from the USA.  They’re lovely.
