This is the week I’m going to get the show back on the road with the regeneration and get organised with, well, everything. The running around to find the right sock will always happen, that’s for sure but I need to give myself more of a chance of finding it quickly. Organisation is going to be my new best friend, it will give me peace of mind and some of my time back.
Yesterday was a funny old day, the thing that made me smile was this gorgeous arrangement that my niece did using apples she had caught from the tree using her Bapa’s apple picking equipment. H and K spent ages with it, perfecting their technique and making my sister and me laugh and laugh. It’s a stick, with a net basically.
Instagram is just brilliant fun, isn’t it. I like the feeling of taking a quick snap and making it better by using the effects, in a matter of moments. It reminds me of the Polaroid camera I had many moons ago, but better, you had to take what you got with the instant print that popped out of the camera. The pictures today are all Instagram ones.
My little posy is sweet and simple – the flowers are beside each other in the garden so it seemed natural to put them together in a vase. This summer has been phenomenal. We could not have asked for more, the garden is blooming and we have more apples than we know what to with. The air is changing now, particularly in the evening and the nights are drawing in, I had my fluffy socks on last night to keep the nip from my feet. The good news is we don’t have to wait so long for the solar fairy lights to come on outside, not managed to capture them well on camera yet, but I will.
Pet sounds is still making me smile, thought you’d like the view from the hall and a detail shot – I really am not pleased with the image in the previous post. The wall colour is Farrow and Ball’s Skimming Stone, it is very calm and warm for the North facing bathroom.
All that’s left to say is have a great weekend, summer never felt so long (or warm up here). x
What a weekend, brilliant sunshine, children outside all the time, good times had with friends of all ages, charming museum discovered and then, just to polish it all off nicely, Andy Murray wins Wimbledon. Amazing.
Perthshire is only an hour away but this weekend it felt a million miles, we stayed at the wigwams at newmillfarm near Stanley. They facilities are pretty simple but the welcome was warm and the location just perfect with a little burn nearby where the children, all ten of them, could go and dabble with little worry of danger. Our car was first at the wigwams, while the children were checking everything out I managed to read a bit of the book I borrowed months ago, I seem to have forgotten how rewarding reading an actual book rather than a screen can be.
We visited Active Kids nearby the next day – so sunny but pretty windy too. It kept everybody happy for some hours with jelly bellies, a fortress, go carts, slides, trampolines, animals and crazy golf. Barbeques were brilliant both nights, a feast for everyone – the dogs would have had a field day with all of the dropped bits and bobs had they come too.
Once we were all packed up ready on Sunday we headed up to Dunkeld where there is the very charming Beatrix Potter Exhibition at the Birnam Institute. It kept boys and girls aged 4-14 interested for ages, not bad going. There’s always one who is not so impressed!
That was my weekend then, hoping there will be more like that over the next few weeks of the holidays.
Thought you might like to see how beautiful Edinburgh was this evening, I will always be a city girl even though I love a bit of country life once in a while.
